From January 28th through February 2nd, athletes and coaches from around the world converged at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and took part in one of the most competitive taekwondo tournaments every year – The US Open!

Hosted by U.S.A. Taekwondo (USAT), and featuring the new National Points Ranking System in which all members who participate in sanctioned events will be ranked according to performance, the event promised to be quite the challenge with stakes up from last year.

Shuffling to and at times running from one ring to another, Master Vargas coached 9 Quest athletes and one guest from Flying V during the event — Sachi, Clare, Ms. Maria, Shelley, Reian, Reinjen, Jiro, Kenshin, RJ, Tyler, and Chandler (“Flying V”).

Every Division bracket was loaded with top athletes. The wait for each match to begin was unbearable. And the battle to move up the ranks was both nerve-wracking and exciting.

All of our Quest athletes fought to the bitter end. Each walked away with valuable experience under his/her belt. And some, came home with a medal.

Sachi (Fin Division) – Bronze, Clare (Bantam Division) – Silver, and Ms. Maria (Ultra Division) – Gold.

Congratulations to our medal winners! AND congratulations to every member of our team who took up the challenge to fight. Next year will be even better – I guarantee it!
